Two pick-up trucks and a compact car were involved in the crash, reported to emergency services by a Watauga Medics Ambulance that happened on the scene.  | Avery Drug Arrest in Traffic Stop Stephen Holland, 20, of Sugar Mountain #1, was arrested by the Avery Sheriff's Department and charged with felony possession and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. Holland was arrested after a traffic stop in which about two ounces of marijuana was found in his vehicle.  | Avery Citizen Helps Nab Break-In SuspectsAn Avery citizen helped the Avery Sheriff’s Department stop and capture two suspects in a break-in at Mountain Electric in Newland. Glenn Marker, 30, of Newland and Dustin Shook, 21, of Linville were arrested and charged by the Avery County Sheriff’s Office on Friday with Felony Breaking and Entering and Felony Larceny. The Sheriff said the citizen not only saw a suspicious vehicle parked behind Mountain Electric, but blocked in the vehicle and confronted one of the suspects. After the citizen confronted the suspect near the vehicle, both suspects fled from the area on foot.
