The stand-off is over—Walter Edmisten has surrendered to lawmen.  The 50-year old was coaxed out of his home just off Wildcat Road by a family member, according to Sheriff Len Hagaman, "We're greatfully relieved.  We're thankful for his family showing up.  They, of course, played a very important role in it along with some of the negotiators, so he was ready to come out." The stand-off started just before 10 this morning as deputies went to the home to serve papers and arrest Edmisten on charges stemming from the high-speed chase Tuesday night that lead into Wilkes County.  Numerous charges are pending, including charges involving a stolen car used in the chase that was found in his front yard.  Edmisten claimed he fired no shots at deputies after being tasered this morning, and alluded to an earlier incident at his home involving deputies, "I didn't fire no gun at anybody.  They shot me a damn taser by God and I fell across the damn floor."
