Intermittent Overnight Closures to Continue on N.C. 105

BANNER ELK – Contract crews for the N.C. Department of Transportation will continue rock removal operations on N.C. 105 between Broadstone Road and Old Shulls Mill Road over the next two weeks.

Successful procedures from recent weeks will continue starting on the evening of May 30 with blasting operations.

Beginning at 7 p.m. tomorrow, crews from Wright Brothers Construction Company Inc. will stop traffic intermittently for up to 15 minutes at a time to manually clear materials for slope stabilization.

Beginning at 9 p.m., the closures will hold traffic for up to 30 minutes at a time until the full reopening of the road the following morning at 6 a.m.

The evenings of June 4 and June 6, blasting operations will be performed beginning at 7 p.m., followed by the same rock removal schedule through the night.

Crews will be on-site directing motorists around the temporary closures all three evenings.
