BOONE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOUNDATION REOPENS APPLICATIONS FOR BUSINESS RESILIENCY DISASTER GRANTS
BOONE, NC – As it continues to fundraise for its Hope for the High Country: Hurricane Helene Business Resiliency Disaster Grants, the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation has reopened the grant application window for a second round of funding.
Grant applications can be received from Friday, November 8, 2024, at 8:30AM through Friday, November 15th, 2024, at 4:30PM. Businesses that applied and did not receive funds during the first round do not need to re-apply, as all applications remain on file. Additional grant awards will come from a mix of previous and new applications.
Since late September, the Chamber Foundation has distributed $550,500 in raised funds to local businesses. That includes $344,500 distributed to 86 businesses during the first round of Business Resiliency Disaster Grant allocations. A total of $206,000 was distributed for October tuition payments made to local licensed early childhood development centers and in-home care providers in partnership with The Children’s Council of Watauga County.
“We are happy to get this application process reopened so quickly, which is a direct testament to the donors that continue to see the support of our business community as a priority,” said David Jackson, President and CEO of the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce. “As we have distributed funds from our first round of allocations, it has become even more clear that businesses continue to struggle with the physical, financial, and emotional losses from the storm’s impact. While we have hit the fundraising threshold we set in place to reopen applications, we are still actively seeking donor support to allow us more funds to distribute once the application window closes.”
The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation remains focused on helping with community and business relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene’s impact on the High Country. The 501c3 non-profit organization anticipates reopening its grant application window as soon as funding thresholds are met. Additionally, the organization remains a collaborative partner on several disaster relief fundraising projects throughout the community, including the upcoming Hello from the Holler live-music event at Booneshine Brewing Company on November 16th.
