App State Football to Host NC State in 2028
BOONE, N.C. — App State will play a home football game against the NC State Wolfpack on Sept. 30, 2028.
The 2028 game replaces a previously scheduled 2025 date and will be the Mountaineers’ first home game against the in-state Wolfpack.
The two teams will also play on Sept. 26, 2026 in Raleigh as part of the two-game series.
App State and NC State have squared off six times previously, with the Wolfpack winning each contest in Raleigh. The last meeting was a 23-10 NC State win in 2006.
It will be the fourth Kidd Brewer Stadium visit by an ACC team, following visits from Miami (2016), Wake Forest (2017) and North Carolina (2022).
App State will host the “Battle at The Rock” spring game to conclude the spring practice season on April 12. Fans can register for free (or upgraded) tickets through April 2.
The Mountaineers kick off the Dowell Loggains Era this fall with an Aug. 29 season opener against Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium. Presale tickets are available to Yosef Club members.
Home games in 2025 include Lindenwood (Sept. 6), Oregon State (Oct. 4), Coastal Carolina (Oct. 18), Georgia Southern (Nov. 6), Marshall (Nov. 22) and Arkansas State (Nov. 29). The complete 2025 schedule was announced last week.
