Crews battling wildfire in Wilkes County, fires also in Ashe & Caldwell

Fire crews from at least six departments and the NC Forest Service are battling a wildfire in Wilkes County. That fire is reportedly 1500 acres.
That fire is on the mountainside of Old Highway 16 near the Wilkes / Ashe County line, according to Wilkes EMS. High winds and dry conditions are hampering the efforts to control the fire.
There are also reported fires in other sections of Wilkes County. There are also fires in Ashe and Caldwell. A burn ban is in place statewide.
