Ex-Appalachian State employee indicted in $3,400 embezzlement case

A former Appalachian State University admissions employee has been indicted on four counts of embezzlement, court documents show.
Florancie Jacques, 26, of Cary, is accused of stealing more than $3,400 in four incidents between September 2022 and April 2025, according to Queen City News. She worked as a reviewer and recruiter in the university’s Office of Admissions until March, according to her LinkedIn profile.
A Watauga County grand jury indicted Jacques on Sept. 22. She was arrested Monday and is being held in the Wake County jail on a $50,000 secured bond.
Her next court appearance is set for Oct. 27.
