For Friday Jan 23
Due to severe winter weather in the forecast, Lees-McRae College will hold classes virtually on Friday, Jan. 23 and Monday, Jan. 26. Administrative offices will remain open during this time.
Students who are able to do so are strongly encouraged to leave campus for the duration of the storm. Campus services will be available throughout the weekend for residential students who remain on campus.
With an abundance of caution, the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce is postponing Saturday events(Polar Bear Plunge, Rotary Chili Challenge, WinterFest Beer Garden) to Saturday, January 31. Ticket holders will be contacted directly, and a full alternate schedule will be posted to BlowingRockWinterFest.com
In preparation for the upcoming storm, a shelter will open at Ashe County High School located at 184 Campus Drive in West Jefferson on Saturday, January 24, beginning at 10:00 a.m. This location will provide a safe place for those impacted. Pets will be transported to a separate facility.”
App State - Adverse Weather Condition 2 (Suspended Operations) is in effect for Boone and Hickory campus non-faculty employees from noon Saturday, Jan. 24, until 7 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26. Adverse Weather Condition 1 (Reduced Operations) will take effect in Boone and Hickory beginning at 7 a.m on Monday, Jan. 26.
App State classes scheduled to meet on the Boone and Hickory campuses on Monday, Jan. 26, will not meet in person.
Additional information about campus operations for Monday, Jan. 26, will be shared by the afternoon of Sunday, Jan. 25.

As of now, we plan to open on Saturday on our regular schedule, as weather conditions allow. We will remain closed on Sunday out of an abundance of caution for our members, guests, and staff.
