Johnson County Schools will be CLOSED on Monday February 23rd 2026.

Avery County Schools will operate on a Remote Learning Day on Monday, February 23.

Students should follow the instructions provided by their individual schools. Staff should follow their supervisor’s directions regarding reporting to work.

Watauga County Schools will operate on an Inclement Weather Remote Learning Day for Monday, Feb. 23.

No students will report to school buildings. Teachers and other instructional staff may choose to work remotely. Staff reporting to school buildings may report on a two-hour delay and should exercise caution while traveling.

All K-8 students will begin instruction at 10 a.m. and follow the schedule provided by their teachers. WVA students will follow the set schedule established by WVA. All high school students will begin instruction at 10:30 a.m.

The Holiday/Snow Day Program at Hardin Park School will open at 9 a.m.

NO-DAY SNOW DAY for Ashe County Schools. Schools will be CLOSED for students and 10-month employees.

Due to inclement weather, Lees-McRae College is operating with emergency protocols and modified conditions.

All in-person classes will be held virtually on Monday, February 23. Faculty will communicate with their students directly through Brightspace about remote responsibilities for coursework and assignments.

App state All Boone campus classes before noon on Monday, Feb. 23, are canceled. Beginning at noon, all Boone campus class instruction will take place online.  

Condition 2 (Suspended Operations) (https://hr.appstate.edu/hr-services/policies-and-forms/adverse-weather) is in effect in Boone on Monday, Feb. 23, until noon. Condition 1 begins Monday, Feb. 23, at noon until 7 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. No operational changes are expected for the Hickory campus
