Newland Man Arrested After Chase From Morganton To Avery

The Avery Sheriff's Department has arrested a Newland man after a vehicle chase that involved Morganton Police.
Published reports indicate Wyatt Lane Clark, age 25, of Newland, was arrested after being stopped at a checkpoint in Morganton, and did not have an active driver's license.
Instead of pulling his vehicle off to the side, Clark fled the area, eventually travelling northbound on Highway 181 towards Avery County at high speed.
After he was apprehended, Clark was arrested and held in the Avery County Jail and his vehicle was seized, until both were transferred to Morganton Police.
