Watauga French Students Rank In National French Contest

Watauga High French Students receive honors in a national competition.

French 2 students Annie Fowler, Mia Llibre, and Trinity Witte of Watauga High School and French 4 Honors students Ella Jennings, Kylie Broce, and Alex Newmark have ranked nationally in the 88th annual Le Grand Concours, also known as the National French Contest, a national competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French.

In addition, Mia Shanley received the AATF 2023 Outstanding Senior In French award, given annually to one student per school who has demonstrated excellence in the study of French, maintain an A average grade in French and at least a B overall.

Shanley has studied French at least three years, is a member and officer of the French Honor Society, a student representative on the NC State Superintendent student committee and Watauga Board of Education student advisior.
