2nd High Country Jazz Festival This Weekend In Boone And Blowing Rock
This weekend, the High Country Jazz Festival will bring 15 separate events to 10 different locations around Boone and Blowing Rock.
It all begins with a Jazz Dinner with Todd Wright and Andy Page at Casa Rustica and the film La La Land at The Appalachian Theatre on Thursday evening.
On Friday, a Jazz talk by Todd Wright at the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum, the Jazz Cocktail Hour with Pavel Wlosok on the roof at the Horton Hotel, and the
kick off concert with The Will Boyd Quintet as part of the Summer Concerts at the Jones House. Friday night it's the Legendary Count Basie Orchestra directed by Scotty Barnhart, with guest vocalist Carmen Bradford at the Appalachian Theatre, followed by the Late Night Jazz Festival Jam Session at the Beacon Butcher Bar.
On Saturday, Marquee Jazz with Todd Wright’s Jazz Studies students performing popular works free of charge underneath the historic, award-winning art deco façade and marquee at the Appalachian Theatre; High Country Jazz Lunch at Lost Province Brewing featuring The Ron Brendle Trio with Andy Page, and The Emmet Cohen Group performs at App Theatre at 7:30 pm, and another Late Night Jazz Festival Jam Session at the Beacon Butcher Bar.
Sunday features two High Country Jazz Brunches at the historic 1891 Green Park Inn Blowing Rock, a second jazz lunch at Lost Province Brewing in Boone that features Joseph Hasty and Centerpiece Jazz, Shane Chalke performing during cocktail hour on the patio of Chetola Resort, and the festival concludes with The Reggie Buie Group under the tent at Chetola.
