Blowing Rock Town Council Discusses Ale House Expansion
The Blowing Rock Town Council met on October 11th, to discuss several relevant issues.
One of which being hearing a request from Blowing Rock Ale House to rezone a four-acre property on Hwy 321 and Edminsten road. Co-Founder of the Blowing Rock Brewing Company, Jeff Walker said that after opening the company in 2013 they grew the brand to a production brewery in Hickory as a 100% locally owned and operated business that employed more than 70 people to fulfill more than 1,000 accounts state wide. The proposed expansion will add a new facility in order to become the primary canning location in the region. Many people like Roy Gryder requested that the council dismiss the request, as he is a resident of Edminsten Road. County Manager Shane Fox said the economic impact this proposal would be a profit of $2 million.
