Fire hydrant flushing causes Dirty Faucet Water

Anyone who noticed decreased water pressure or strange colored water coming from the faucet don't panic.
The hydrants are flushed annually to help prevent build ups in our lines as well as ensure the hydrants are flowing properly. If you are still experiencing discoloring, try running your cold water for 15-20 minutes or until discoloration ceases. Do not wash your clothing in the discolored water it may stain clothing. Please call Town Hall at (828) 295-5200 if you still have discolored water after steadily running your cold water.
