WINKLERS CREEK ROAD TO BE CLOSED FOR BRIDGE REHAB STARTING MONDAY
A project to rehabilitate a bridge in Watauga County necessitates the closure of a popular shortcut in town.
N.C. Department of Transportation crews will close a section of Winklers Creek Road for one month starting on Monday, July 18.
David E Scott of the NCDOT Bridge Department says the closing will be at 427 Winklers Creek Road near Greenway Commons, beginning Monday July 18 through Friday August 19.
NCDOT crews will remove the existing deck, beams and handrail before repairing the substructure and replacing the beams, deck and handrail. The project will extend the service life of the bridge.
Traffic will be detoured along the following roads: Russ Cornett Road, Diamond Ranch Road, Poplar Grove Road, N.C. 105 .and U.S. 221/321 to Winkler’s Creek
Drivers who take that route from Blowing Rock Road near Bojangles to access Greenway Road businesses and residences will need to take Meadowview Drive.
