CHANGES THIS YEAR AT SOME ASHE COUNTY SCHOOLS

Ashe County Schools has announced several changes in leadership for the upcoming school year. There will be two new principals this year.

Dustin Farmer is the new principal at Ashe County High School. Farmer was previously principal at Ashe Middle School and has spent 19 years in education, 9 years as a teacher and 10 years as an administrator.

Dr. Susan Mochen, who came to Ashe County Schools in 2021 with more than 20 years in education, will be the new principal at Ashe Middle School. Ashe Middle School teacher Sherrie Hines will take over as assistant principal.

Tammy Woods has been promoted to Director of Child Nutrition for Ashe County Schools. Woods is the former CTE Secretary and Child Nutrition Administrative Assistant.

Casey Smith, who served as Literacy Specialist at Blue Ridge Elementary, will be the new K-5 Curriculum Coordinator.

The first day of school in Ashe County is August 22.
