Boone Police Chased a Stolen Vehicle to Wilkes County
Three people were arrested after a high-speed chase in a stolen car. On January 15th, at around 11:56 pm, Boone police witnessed a silver 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling on US 421 South near Industrial Drive.
The vehicle was swerving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed and had no registration plate. An officer attempted to conduct a vehicle stop, but the suspect fled, leading to a pursuit. The chase continued into Wilkes County, where stop sticks were successfully deployed on the suspect vehicle. However, the suspect continued to flee and eventually crashed near mile marker 283 on US 421 South. The driver, Harry Kurtis Joyner II, age 39 from Charlotte, was arrested by the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office on warrants for Felony Probation Violation and Habitual Felony. He was also charged by Boone Police with Felony Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Felony Flee to Elude, and Driving While License Revoked. His bond was set at $115,000.00. Two female passengers were also taken into custody. Angel Solis, age 33 from Kannapolis, was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Ayla Williams, age 35 from Charlotte, was arrested for outstanding warrants for Felony Identity Theft, Felony Obtaining Property by False Pretense, and Felony Larceny by Employee. The Boone Police Department thanked the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office, Wilkesboro Police Department, Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol for their assistance in the apprehension of the suspect.
