Watauga County was recently awarded $17,771 in funding to support various services through the Emergency Food and Shelter National Program (EFSP).

The funds were provided by the High Country United Way, a local philanthropic organization. The EFSP is a Federal program administered by the US Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency. Its purpose is to supplement and expand ongoing efforts to provide food, shelter, and other services to individuals in economic crisis. Local service agencies in Watauga County can apply for a portion of the funds by submitting a letter of request to This email address is being protected from spambots.
