Seven Mountaineers Join NFL Teams
Seven former App State Mountaineer Football players officially joined the NFL this weekend as either draft picks or as free agents.
In the NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams selected pass-rushing standout Nick Hampton in the fifth round with the 161st overall pick.
The Jacksonville Jaguars selected offensive lineman Cooper Hodges, who is from nearby Glen St. Mary, Fla., in the seventh round with the 226th overall selection.
After the draft ended, four Mountaineers signed free agent deals:
CB Steven Jones Jr. (Tennessee Titans)
TE Henry Pearson (Green Bay Packers)
RB Camerun Peoples (Carolina Panthers)
OL Anderson Hardy (Kansas City Chiefs)
Special teams standout Jourdan Heilig signed with the New England Patriots on Sunday, while quarterback Chase Brice has been invited to participate in rookie minicamps with the Atlanta Falcons and New York Jets.
