Watauga Sports Update!

Pioneers Stun Mitchell in Dramatic Fashion
The Watauga Pioneers won their third game in
a row after taking down the Mitchell
Mountaineers in Bakersville, 28-21, after
trailing 14-21 at the end of the third quarter.
Sophomore quarterback Maddox Greene
completed 5-6-17 passes for 17 yards. Greene
also led the Pioneers with 20 carries for 146
rushing yards and a touchdown. Will Curtis
contributed with three rushing touchdowns.
Isaiah Shirley had two catches for 10 yards.
Carlton and Cole Horrine led the Pioneer
defense with 11 combined tackles while Isaigh
Shirley added 5.5 more.
After scoring the final touchdown of the game,
Maddox Greene made the game-winning
interception on Mitchell quarterback Caleb
Cook, with less than a minute to go, to seal the
win for Watauga.
Watauga will stay on the road to take on Burns
high school next Friday night at 7:30pm, as
they will look to start the season 4-0. You can
