Watauga Dominates Ashe County in front of Homecoming Crowd

The Watauga Pioneers bounced back in a big way, beating the long-time rival Ashe County Huskies 55-21 on homecoming night. Sophomore quarterback Maddox Greene completed six of eight passes for a season-high 127 yards and two touchdowns.

Greens also had 75 rushing yards and a score. Senior running back Will Curtis led the way for the Pioneers with 101 rushing yards off of 14 carries and a touchdown. Watauga had six rushing touchdowns total in the game.  Senior wide receiver Jackson Pryor had five catch for 88 yards and one touchdown.  Jackson Lang led the way for Watauga defensively with 5.5 tackles. Isaiah Shirley had 4.5 along with a sack and three tackles for loss.
Cole Horine, Morgan Henry, and Pryor each had an interception.  Watauga will not play this week due to their bye week. In two weeks, on September 30th, they will travel to take on the South Caldwell Spartans at 7:30pm right here on 96.5 FM and 1450 AM W-A-T-A!
