Recap:  Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute rallied from an 11-point second half deficit and held on to complete the season sweep of Catawba Valley Community College, winning 93-91 at the Tarlton Complex in Hickory on Wednesday evening.
 
Toyaz Solomon led all scorers with 21 points, including a two-point basket with 32.5 seconds to go that broke an 88-all tie and gave the Cobras the lead for good.  
 
Catawba Valley opened the game on an 8-0 run, before the Cobras responded with a 17-8 run to take their first lead of the game at 17-16 with 13:23 remaining in the half.  The Cobras would build their largest lead of the game at 46-34 with 3:37 to go in the first half.  Catawba Valley would respond on a 12-3 run to close the half and the Cobras led 49-46 at the break.
 
Jaden Miller scored 11 of his 16 points in the first half, included three, three-point baskets. 
 
Caldwell extended their lead to five points early in the second half before the Red Hawks got hot behind the ark.  Javen Chandler hit back-to-back threes and Catawba Valley retook the lead at 60-57 with 13:10 remaining in the game.  
 
The Cobras' Caleb Mauldin would get a layup with 10:36 to go that stopped a 14-0 Red Hawk run and brough Caldwell to within nine points at 68-59.  Mauldin's basket started a 14-3 Cobra run, including back-to-back three-pointers by RJ Black, and Caldwell retook the lead at 71-70 with 8:37 to go.  
 
Black would hit his fourth three-pointer of the second half, giving Caldwell its largest lead of the half at 82-77 with 5:06 to go.
 
After Catawba Valley cut the deficit to two points, Solomon hit two free throws to put the Cobras up 84-80.  The Red Hawks responded with a three-pointer by Chandler and with 2:49 remaining Catawba Valley reclaimed the lead at 86-84 after Braden Graham converted a three-point play.  
 
The Cobras would get a basket by Brandon Miller to tie the game at 86 and another basket by Solomon as Caldwell retook the lead at 88-86 with 1:17 remaining.  Catawba Valley's Shad Thomas would tie the game with 50 seconds remaining with a jumper in the lane.  Solomon's jumper in the lane would connect with 32.5  seconds remaining, giving Caldwell a 90-88 advantage.  Catawba Valley missed a shot on the ensuing possession and Jakari Dula hit two free throws to give Caldwell a 92-88 lead.  
 
Catawba Valley did have a chance to win the game when Graham connected on a three-pointer with just over four seconds remaining to make the score 92-91.  After a Red Hawk timeout, Catawba Valley would steal the in-bound pass but miss a runner in the lane that would have given the Red Hawks the lead.  Solomon was fouled after getting the rebound with four-tenths of a second left and connected on one of two free throws to seal the victory.
