TURTLE WINDISH DRAFTED BY SEATTLE MARINERS IN MLB DRAFT

A former Ashe County High School baseball player is now a Seattle Mariner.

Hogan Windish, also known as Turtle, was selected by the Mariners as the 216th pick in the 7th round of the Major league Baseball Draft.

Windish earned Southern Conference Player of the Year honors with the UNC-Greensboro Spartans, and led the team to the conference title.

The All-American was a three time all-conference selection while playing for the Ashe Huskies.

He is the son of Watauga High School Baseball Coach Mike Windish.
