Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute has earned the number one seed and will face eighth seeded St. Cloud Technical and Community College in the opening round of the NJCAA Division III Baseball World Series at 4:30 PM on Saturday at Pioneer Park in Greeneville, TN. The eight-team, double-elimination tournament will be held from May 28-June 2.
The Caldwell Cobras, 46-7 on the season, were Region 10 champions and earned an automatic bid to the World Series by winning the Mid-Atlantic district title. The St. Cloud Cyclones, with a 24-11 record, are from Region 13 and earned their automatic bid by winning the North Plaines district title.
Caldwell, in its third year of existence, is making its first appearance in the World Series. St. Cloud is making their fifth trip overall to the World Series and were also qualifiers from a year ago. The winner of the Caldwell-St. Cloud game will face either fourth seeded Niagara County or fifth seeded Dallas Eastfield on Sunday at 8PM. The Caldwell-St. Cloud loser will face the Niagara-Dallas Eastfield loser in an elimination game at 1PM on Sunday.
